The opportunity: We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Agriculture Lead. Reporting to the Head of Private Clients & Estates, your overall responsibility will be to deliver on operational objectives, working closely with all other Specialist Heads of Practice, Product Heads and Client and Broker Development Leads. There will be a requirement to manage your own portfolio of claims and provide specialist and technical input on cases led by others.

Key Accountabilities:

  • In collaboration with your report line Head of Private Clients & Estates, build a strategic plan to grow McLarens business in the Agricultural sector.
  • Working with Client and Broker Development Leads; understand our position with new, existing and target clients to help model the plan.
  • Review current Agriculture business and engage with this group to ensure we have an identifiable proposition in all areas for the sector.
  • Act as a technical trouble shooter and a focal point for any sector specific enquiries.
  • Through knowledge share, help train and mentor individuals.
  • Work with the existing operational framework for efficient service delivery.
  • Analyse and report on MI.
  • Prepare the business and assist with surge management.
  • Development and coordination of webinars/presentations.
  • Collaboratively reduce longtail claims lifecycle.
  • Keep abreast of developments in legislative, regulatory, advisory and guidance pertaining to agriculture.
  • Keep updated and report on innovations and market trends in Agriculture.
  • Work closely with our Liability and Forensic Accountancy teams.
  • Thought leadership including training & articles.
  • Continue to raise the profile of Resilience and Sustainability in the context of Agriculture.
  • Develop/collaborate on technical bulletins.
  • Lead on Agriculture sector business development and thought leadership to promote, raise and develop McLarens profile.
  • Achieve profitable growth of the McLarens Private & Estates Sector by building relationships with all influential parties including key personnel in Insurers, MGAs, Local, Regional and National Brokers, Risk and Insurance Managers who underwrite Agricultural risks.
  • Personally seek, secure and retain nominations through active management.
  • Devise and support a UK model to enhance growth.
  • Involvement in tenders and presentations as required.
  • Manage your own portfolio, the profile of which will focus on Agriculture and all other Private Clients claims.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum level of qualification – Agriculture Degree, preferably ACILA or progressing to attain.
  • Excellent Communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management including a proven track record of building strong working relationships, externally and internally, in the field of Agriculture.
  • Personal pride in delivering outputs on time, with a focus on quality and communication, whilst managing multiple deadlines.
  • A willingness to travel throughout the UK and Ireland is required as and when, so flexibility is a must.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and deal with conflicting demands.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently to self-manage work and time.
  • Tenacious and driven.
