The Lead Engineer - Loads CAE leads the definition of robust vehicle, system and component duty cycles across McLaren Automotive programmes. This role drives the development of lightweight, high-performance architectures by delivering robust CAE insight that directly informs key engineering decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Improve the load prediction methods and execute ADAMS simulations to predict chassis, powertrain and frame loads.
  • Set up and execution of nCode and MATLAB based simulations to create accelerated durability duty cycles for system and components.
  • Define new and update existing fatigue KPIs to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of both vehicle and bench durability tests.
  • Support the definition of road load data collection activities and the validation of the data.
  • Support the execution of full vehicle durability rig testing and lead the generation of its drive signals.
  • Development of tools and processes to improve data validation, statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Oversee external CAE partners, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with internal or industry standards and best practice.
  • Work with the different design groups through durability issues root cause analysis and countermeasures validation.

What You'll Bring

  • Excellent knowledge of high-performance vehicles HW and SW systems.
  • Must have excellent analytical skills, with experience in applying a range of data analysis techniques.
  • Proficient with test data processing software (nCode) and programming languages (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Proficient working knowledge of ADAMS or other MBS software.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistics, vibration and durability theories.
  • Familiar with the execution of single actuation and road simulator rig testing.
  • Familiar with databases such as SQL and data visualization tools such as PowerBi or Tableau is advantageous.
  • Familiar with automotive data acquisition systems and diagnostic tools is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to lead technical workstreams, influence stakeholders, and deliver under demanding programme timelines.
