As a Quality Systems Manager you will oversee and enhance our quality management systems. This pivotal role will drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality processes and systems to ensure the highest standards of product quality and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team, including data analysts, quality process engineers, and validation engineers, to support our commitment to excellence. Reporting to Director of Manufacturing Quality, you will manage a team of 5 direct reports and contribute significantly to McLaren’s Horizon 2030 business plan.

What You’ll Do

Quality Systems Development:

Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive quality management systems in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Define and document quality processes, procedures, and standards to ensure consistency and alignment across the organisation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality requirements into our manufacturing processes.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Oversee a team of data analysts responsible for collecting, analysing, and interpreting quality-related data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. Develop and maintain robust reporting mechanisms to track key quality metrics, performance indicators, and compliance requirements. Generate regular and ad-hoc reports to provide insights to senior management and support decision-making processes.

Quality Process Engineering:

Work closely with quality process engineers to design, optimise, and standardise quality control processes and procedures throughout the product inspection stages. Lead efforts to identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and cost savings through continuous process optimisation and automation. Ensure that quality processes are effectively implemented and monitored to mitigate risks and drive quality improvement initiatives.

Validation Engineering:

Manage a team of validation engineers responsible for designing and executing validation plans, protocols, and tests to ensure product compliance with quality standards and specifications. Develop and maintain validation documentation, including test reports, protocols, and validation summaries, to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address validation findings, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing processes.

Strategic Business Integration:

Strategically interact with key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure integration of production plans supporting the achievement of production volume targets. Collaborate with General Assembly, Paint, Controls, Engineering, Logistics, and Quality Operations to align strategic business plans.

Review operational systems and procedures, proposing senior-level recommendations for efficiency and effectiveness improvements. Actively participate in and lead strategic changes in processes within the end-of-line environment.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements. Stay informed about changes in quality standards and implement necessary adjustments.

What You’ll Bring

  • Educational Background: bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Quality Certifications: Certification in quality management, such as Six Sigma, Lean, or ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organisational Excellence (CMQ/OE), is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in quality management, quality systems development, and process engineering within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the automotive industry or relevant manufacturing sectors is beneficial.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant quality standards and regulations in the industry.
  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on advancements in quality management and engineering practices.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex quality-related information.
  • Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with quality management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
