An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven individual to join our Quality team as a Quality Engineer within McLaren Composite Technology Centre in Sheffield.

Purpose of the role:

  • Quality Engineer responsible for composite projects & component delivery at the Sheffield facility
  • Creation and maintenance of quality systems and documentation to support new and ongoing activities
  • Creation and leadership of validation frameworks & activities for new products and processes with cross-functional teams
  • Provide dedicated Quality Engineering support for allocated project/area through product lifecycle
  • Develop Quality metrics, drive implementation and report results to the Leadership team
  • Support the team in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using a Practical Problem-Solving approach
  • Lead the application of Quality tools (such as PFMEA, SPC and MSA) in the allocated area
  • Liaise with Supplier Quality for incoming material issues
  • Support the development of measurement techniques for new products
  • Apply analytical skills and judgement to generate solutions to technical challenges
  • Deliver all aspects of Quality Engineering activities in line with targets, KPIs and milestones

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Strong knowledge & demonstrable experience with Quality Engineering skills, including PFMEA, SPC, MSA, Root Cause Analysis and auditing to established quality standards
  • Experience of compiling PPAP documentation & associated validation activities is essential
  • Experience of composite production is highly desirable
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is advantageous
  • Knowledge of Automotive quality systems is advantageous
  • Experience of niche vehicle (low volume) programmes desirable
  • Experience of manufacturing using fabrics desirable
  • Excellent communication and I.T. skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
  • Experience of Minitab software is desirable
  • Experience of Polyworks, Dataloop, Modus, Trios and SAP desirable but not required
