An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven individual to join our Quality team as a Quality Engineer within McLaren Composite Technology Centre in Sheffield.
Purpose of the role:
- Quality Engineer responsible for composite projects & component delivery at the Sheffield facility
- Creation and maintenance of quality systems and documentation to support new and ongoing activities
- Creation and leadership of validation frameworks & activities for new products and processes with cross-functional teams
- Provide dedicated Quality Engineering support for allocated project/area through product lifecycle
- Develop Quality metrics, drive implementation and report results to the Leadership team
- Support the team in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using a Practical Problem-Solving approach
- Lead the application of Quality tools (such as PFMEA, SPC and MSA) in the allocated area
- Liaise with Supplier Quality for incoming material issues
- Support the development of measurement techniques for new products
- Apply analytical skills and judgement to generate solutions to technical challenges
- Deliver all aspects of Quality Engineering activities in line with targets, KPIs and milestones
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Strong knowledge & demonstrable experience with Quality Engineering skills, including PFMEA, SPC, MSA, Root Cause Analysis and auditing to established quality standards
- Experience of compiling PPAP documentation & associated validation activities is essential
- Experience of composite production is highly desirable
- Experience in automotive manufacturing is advantageous
- Knowledge of Automotive quality systems is advantageous
- Experience of niche vehicle (low volume) programmes desirable
- Experience of manufacturing using fabrics desirable
- Excellent communication and I.T. skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)
- Experience of Minitab software is desirable
- Experience of Polyworks, Dataloop, Modus, Trios and SAP desirable but not required
