Location: United Kingdom. This role is only open to applicants who have the permanent and unrestricted right to live and work in the UK. We are unable to offer sponsorship for this position.

Job Type: Self-employed – opportunity for 50+ hours per week, travel paid, weekly invoice/payments (CIS scheme used).

Salary: Civils Supervisor (up to) £25/hr commensurate with experience. Civils Operative (up to) £20/hr commensurate with experience.

Job Overview: We are looking for a competent and experienced working Civils Supervisor to travel and work nationally throughout the UK. Or a 2 man civils team with a working supervisor and civils operative to work together full time. The Civils Supervisor is responsible for supervising/completing civils work including earthworks, excavations, trenches, concreting, slab work and all other groundwork activities. The 2nd man operative will work closely alongside the Supervisor as a team to complete the works together. Work will include working away from home Monday to Friday, possible weekends and with accommodation provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all civils work complies with codes and regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following safety methods and controls, conducting safety briefings and tool box talks, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn and safety measures are observed during all projects.
  • Manage direct labour and subcontractors, offering technical guidance.
  • Assign tasks, set work priorities, and ensure projects are completed within deadlines.
  • Monitor the quality of work, ensuring it meets codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
  • Qualified supervision role, working closely with other trades, such as electrical.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to plan and execute works.
  • Provide feedback on project timelines, labour requirements, and technical issues.
  • Supply daily Whats App updates on work progress, material usage, and any issues faced.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on best practices and safe working.
  • Ensure that the team is kept up-to-date with the latest technologies, tools, and safety procedures related to completing project works.
  • Development pathway to be identified and agreed for candidate career pathway and supported by Client.
  • Ensure that all materials are ordered and available in accordance with project timelines and specifications working closely with Managers with commercial awareness.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in civils/groundworks, ideally with a focus on utility scale energy systems.
  • Prior experience in the renewable energy industry is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of civils standards, safety standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading site drawings and completing work to specification.
  • Hands-on experience with civils and groundworks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excavator, dumper and roller ticket for both Supervisor and operative.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS for Supervisor (or willingness to complete).
  • CSCS card.
  • Driving licence.
  • First aid at work (or willingness to complete).
  • Confined spaces (or willingness to complete).
  • Proficiency in applications for site reporting (iauditor, Microsoft etc.).
  • Experience working in engineering and/or utility scale power generation.
  • Ability to travel within the UK as required.
  • Own transport to be provided and reimbursed at 25p per mile.
