As an integral member of the Design Team reporting to the Design Engineering Leader, you will be responsible for the design and release of components and systems from concept to manufacturing in line with project timeframes.
What You'll Do
- Ownership of component and system design from concept through track sign off, into production
- Creation of 3D Surface and Solid designs for a wide range of vehicle systems and components
- Creation of supporting detailed GD & T manufacturing drawings
- BoM creation and structuring within ERP systems
- Work closely with Project Engineers to fulfil technical, commercial, and timing targets (DFM etc)
- Liaison with Development Engineers to understand system performance and development requirements
- Liaison with suppliers' Manufacturing, Engineering and Purchasing teams
- Creation of jig and tooling designs in collaboration with end users where required
- Technical support for car build (prototype and production)
- Represent the department in design reviews and during test and development activities if required
- Contribute to fault diagnosis and resolution in collaboration with the wider Engineering Team
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Aeronautical engineering or similar
- Good understanding of GT race car mechanical systems and design philosophy
- Good knowledge of component and assembly design requirements for motorsport
- Elevated level of proficiency of CATIA-V5 preferred
- Proficient with industry standard CAE tools to support design targets
- Experience of drafting / drawing creation and proficient with GD&T
- Good knowledge of metallic and composite materials and latest manufacturing techniques
- A passion for high performance / motorsport engineering
- Strong time management capability to deliver multiple work packages in parallel
- Must be a team player and be able to work closely with multiple stakeholders and suppliers
- Appreciate the need for appropriate design and manufacturing methods depending on scope and targets
- Flexible and adaptable approach to challenges
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
