Overview
In this role you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for HV system integration, power electronics, and controls from concept to production. You will govern technical direction, delivery plans, and cross-functional collaboration to meet cost, timing, quality, and safety targets. You shape HV software and hardware interfaces and drive program delivery across vehicle programs. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the HV system architecture, integration, and controls engineering team
- Set technical direction, priorities, and delivery plans across hardware, software and functional requirements
- Govern HV controls strategy, software planning, calibration, releases and validation
- Oversee integration across HV components (DC/DC converters, chargers, inverters, MCUs, BMS) and interactions with HV subsystems
- Represent HV Systems to resolve cross-functional dependencies and risks with Software, Functional Safety and Vehicle teams
- Own supplier technical governance including scope, timing, quality, validation and issue resolution for software and control systems
- Ensure robust engineering release, change-control, deviation and concern-management processes
- Build team capability through coaching, workload management and technical review
- Deliver HV software across vehicle programmes to planed specifications, cost, timing and quality
- Approve system architecture and interfaces aligned with feature requirements and risk mitigation
- Ensure development strategies cover Model-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop, bench, rig and vehicle testing
- Ensure ISO 26262 functional-safety requirements are planned and delivered with Functional Safety teams
- Oversee software supplier planning, integration, validation, release readiness
- Apply diagnostics, calibration, data logging, analysis and root-cause methods to HV controls issues
- Own technical risk, quality status, resource demand and escalation for the function
- Ensure specifications, DVPs, FMEAs and validation evidence align with MDP and ETRS requirements
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to secure software for prototype to production builds
- Promote consistent systems-engineering practice and continuous improvement
Key requirements
- Strong leadership experience in automotive HV or embedded controls
- Proven ability to lead engineers across requirements, architecture, integration, validation, release and production delivery
- Solid understanding of automotive systems engineering and software development lifecycle
- Working knowledge of HV supervisory controls and components (DC/DC, chargers, inverters, MCUs, BMS)
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink modelling and MiL/HiL verification
- Experience in software development, calibration, diagnostics, data logging, testing and root-cause analysis
- Experience managing suppliers, risk, validation plans and engineering changes
- Knowledge of ISO 26262, high-voltage safety, EMC and automotive standards
- Clear communication, stakeholder management and decision-making for reviews
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Automotive Engineering or related discipline
- High-voltage competency and leadership training desirable
