The Lead Engineer - Loads CAE leads the definition of robust vehicle, system and component duty cycles across McLaren Automotive programmes. This role drives the development of lightweight, high-performance architectures by delivering robust CAE insight that directly informs key engineering decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Improve the load prediction methods and execute ADAMS simulations to predict chassis, powertrain and frame loads.
- Set up and execution of nCode and MATLAB based simulations to create accelerated durability duty cycles for system and components.
- Define new and update existing fatigue KPIs to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of both vehicle and bench durability tests.
- Support the definition of road load data collection activities and the validation of the data.
- Support the execution of full vehicle durability rig testing and lead the generation of its drive signals.
- Development of tools and processes to improve data validation, statistical analysis and data visualization.
- Oversee external CAE partners, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with internal or industry standards and best practice.
- Work with the different design groups through durability issues root cause analysis and countermeasures validation.
What You’ll Bring
- Excellent knowledge of high-performance vehicles HW and SW systems.
- Must have excellent analytical skills, with experience in applying a range of data analysis techniques.
- Proficient with test data processing software (nCode) and programming languages (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
- Proficient working knowledge of ADAMS or other MBS software.
- Excellent knowledge of statistics, vibration and durability theories.
- Familiar with the execution of single actuation and “road simulator” rig testing.
- Familiar with databases such as SQL and data visualization tools such as PowerBi or Tableau is advantageous.
- Familiar with automotive data acquisition systems and diagnostic tools is advantageous.
- Proven ability to lead technical workstreams, influence stakeholders, and deliver under demanding programme timelines.
