The Cyber Security AI Engineer plays a vital role in maintaining, managing, and leveraging McLaren’s existing technical security capabilities to mitigate cyber security risks specific to the company's AI systems and dependent information. This role involves identifying potential security control gaps related to AI technologies, assisting in the selection and acquisition of new capabilities to address these gaps, and deploying and configuring new AI security capabilities as needed. Additionally, the AI Engineer works to minimize McLaren’s exposure to AI-related security vulnerabilities by coordinating patching, conducting vulnerability scans, and scoping penetration tests across the AI estate. Providing relevant and timely security management information to the IT Leadership Team and key business stakeholders is also crucial, ensuring they understand McLaren’s security risk exposure around AI technologies, both internal and external. Moreover, the AI Engineer ensures that McLaren is prepared to respond to AI-related security incidents and manages any incidents that occur.
What You’ll Do
- Configure, manage and monitor McLaren’s security capabilities in relation to AI technology, including endpoint/host-based, web, cloud and network tools.
- Assist in the triage and investigation of potential AI related security incidents; including incidents detected internally or reported by outsourced network security monitoring services.
- Assist in the development, testing and implementation of AI related Cyber Security incident response plans.
- Maximise the value obtained from outsourced AI security monitoring services; e.g. by developing event logging standards and by codifying the conditions, processes and timeframes for suspected incidents to be reported to McLaren by such services.
- Identify relevant security metrics to quantify McLaren’s technical AI security risk exposure.
- Report on the effectiveness of McLaren’s existing AI technical security controls; and makes recommendations for their improvement.
- Identify, quantify and communicate emergent AI security risks, trends and themes.
- Assist the Cyber Security function in identifying appropriate AI security risk mitigation plans; and in refining and delivering McLaren’s Cyber Security AI strategy.
- Assist in the development, review and improvement of McLaren’s AI security policies.
- Develop and implements appropriate technical standards for the secure configuration of AI technologies used within McLaren; e.g. defining build/product hardening standards.
- Ensure that operational procedures adopted within the wider IT team around the use and implementation of AI technologies are appropriately secure.
- Produce metrics / KPIs to show the effectiveness of controls on AI technologies and reports on near-misses prevented with security controls.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in configuring, managing and reporting upon the effectiveness of AI security products.
- Experience with applying security good practice to AI technologies; particularly Cloud-based platforms and McLaren built applications.
- Experience in identifying security control gaps in AI technologies and solutions to close such gaps.
- Experience in producing AI related security management information for a variety of audiences.
- Understanding of the operation and management of core Microsoft technologies, such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra ID and Azure Security Centre.
- Understand security from the people, process and technology perspectives.
- Understanding of ITIL and typical IT operations across first, second and third line.
- Relevant certifications in fundamentals of AI security, such as Comptia Security, Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-900 and AI-102).
Desirable
- Experience in triaging and investigating security incidents.
- Experience in selecting, acquiring and deploying AI security products.
- Experience in managing third parties which supply AI security products or services.
- Knowledge of the Cyber Security and AI threat landscape; including emergent issues and trends.
- Knowledge of multiple AI security products and their relative merits and limitations.
- Knowledge of security event management standards, protocols and techniques.
- One or more relevant security certifications, such as GCED, GHIC, and/or relevant vendor-specific security certifications.
