Working within the site leadership team of the McLaren Composites Technology Centre’s based in Sheffield/Rotherham, reporting to the Plant Director. The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring that all current and future buildings, grounds, and infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role oversees facilities expansion planning, compliance, managing contractors, budgets, and day‑to‑day facility operations to create a world class manufacturing workplace and environment.

What You'll Do

  • Manage daily operation of manufacturing site infrastructure and facilities systems, including HVAC, building fabric, plumbing, lighting, utilities and general site services.
  • Oversee upkeep of welfare areas, offices, external areas and non-production facilities to maintain a safe and professional working environment.
  • Conduct inspections and lead risk assessments, corrective actions, and audit support.
  • Oversee utilities performance, including power, compressed air and HVAC.
  • Coordinate machinery moves, installations, and layout changes with engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Manage contractors and specialist service providers including cleaning, security, grounds maintenance, waste management and specialist contractors.
  • Control facilities and maintenance budgets, including forecasting for upgrades.
  • Lead facilities related statutory compliance activities, including Legionella control, fire safety systems, insurance inspections and building compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, certification and audit documentation.
  • Maintain emergency response and business continuity plans for facility and infrastructure related assets.
  • Lead facilities planning for expansion, capacity increases, and new production areas.
  • Support definition and specification for new buildings, utilities upgrades, and site improvements.
  • Implement sustainability initiatives, effective energy management and maintain environmental compliance.
  • Act as a key point of contact for facilities-related issues, ensuring timely escalation and resolution where required.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in facilities management within a manufacturing, construction or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of relevant UK regulations (PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, DSEAR).
  • Technical knowledge of utilities, plant systems, and industrial infrastructure.
  • Experience in expansion planning, capacity projects, or new facility setup and delivery.
  • Skilled in contractor management, budgeting, and CAFM systems.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with experience of managing major capital investment projects.
  • Effective communicator with strong problem‑solving and organisational skills.
  • Desirable: IWFM Level 4+ or equivalent, experience with ISO 45001/14001, and lean principles.
  • Safety‑focused, with proactive solutions‑driven approach.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to quickly adapt plans and activities to suit changing priorities as well as long‑term operational needs.
  • Calm and effective in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to influence across teams.
  • Detail‑oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
