As a principal technician within the production area, specifically paint shop reporting to the Group Leader at McLaren Automotive, you will take on a role in ensuring a seamless and efficient operation within the application of paint is at its very best within one of our built-in quality areas, ensuring production continues a consistent, high-quality application process. Your primary responsibility will be practical problem solving any issues found within the quality stations, reworking the fault to the required standard of process/application, also conducting a 4m method to quickly resolve within our internal stakeholder team. You will also ensure all health and safety guidelines are adhered to. Your contributions will be instrumental in achieving our ambitious goals as a company.

  • Paint application and body panel knowledge is essential.
  • Understand practical problem-solving methods and rework instructions.
  • Escalate any issues found within the built-in quality stations and rectify to process standard.
  • Ensure 5s within your work area in line with McLaren expectations.
  • Maintain standards such as using the uniform and clothing provided.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards is essential.
  • Adhere to safety protocols.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as requested by your leader.
  • Logical thinker with good communication is vital to ensure all rework methods are to the highest of standards.
  • The understanding of processes and work instructions to deliver a consistent product.
  • The understanding of workplace safety risk assessments and their meaning.
  • Ability to make sound and logical decisions.
  • Experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience and knowledge within paint application is essential.
