McLaren Automotive is seeking a Metrology Level 3 Apprentice to join our esteemed team of professionals. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to develop advanced metrology skills, gain practical experience in dimensional measurement techniques, and contribute to the precision and accuracy of McLaren's high-performance vehicles.

What You'll Do

  • Dimensional Measurement: Perform precise and accurate measurements of components, assemblies, and finished vehicles using a variety of metrology tools and equipment, including coordinate measuring machines (CMM), laser trackers, and optical scanners.
  • Metrology Equipment Calibration: Assist in the calibration and maintenance of metrology equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability in measurement results, adhering to established calibration procedures and standards.
  • Component Inspection: Conduct dimensional inspection of components and assemblies against engineering specifications and tolerances, identifying any deviations and reporting findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse measurement data and inspection reports to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in manufacturing processes and quality control procedures.
  • Quality Assurance: Support quality assurance initiatives by verifying the accuracy and consistency of measurement results, contributing to the continuous improvement of McLaren's quality management system.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of measurement data, inspection reports, and calibration records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on emerging metrology technologies, techniques, and best practices, seeking opportunities for continuous learning and professional development in the field of dimensional measurement.

There will be a requirement to attend learning blocks for your development with our apprenticeship provider, National Physical Laboratory (NPL).
