We are recruiting for a Health Safety and Environmental Specialist to join our fantastic team in Woking. Reporting to the Head of HS&E, this is a crucial operational role in embedding a proactive health, safety, and environmental culture across all business areas. The role demands a high level of independence, professional integrity, and objectivity, and through collaboration with cross‑functional teams in multiple sites enables the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the defined Safe Systems of Work. Working as part of the HS&E team this role contributes towards the company achieving compliance with statutory requirements and aligned with HS&E best practice standards.

Please note this is a 24 month fixed term contract.

What You\’ll Do

  • Define, develop and maintain Safe Systems of Work.
  • Drive and facilitate the creation of HS&E risk assessments for all activities on all sites.
  • Consult, coach and support on HS&E operational issues and utilise risk assessments to effectively reduce and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain regulatory permits and facilitate Statutory Inspections.
  • Ensure adequate HS&E records are being generated and effectively maintained.
  • Support the preparations and management of the site emergency planning arrangements.
  • Review and update and develop all Company HS&E policies and procedures for further development and improvement to ensure best practice approaches.
  • Develop and establish objective and transparent HS&E reports that demonstrate business performance against policies and procedures.
  • Support and drive incident/accidents/near‑miss investigations as necessary.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and assessments to ensure behaviours and practices in line with company HS&E policies and procedures (SOT’s).
  • Facilitate and support the HSE training, toolbox talks, inductions, and refresher sessions.
  • Generate, promote and maintain a positive health, safety and environmental culture and compliance to company HS&E policies.
  • Support and facilitate wellbeing initiatives and contribute to a psychologically safe work culture.

What You\’ll Bring

  • Previous HS&E experience / proven background in an industrial, process‑driven setting is essential.
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent (e.g., NCRQ Level 6, NVQ Level 6).
  • Working knowledge of ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45000 and Environmental Permitting.
  • Understanding of UK HS&E legislations.
  • Previous experience in conducting HS&E type assessments/audits.
  • Experience with digital HSE systems or platforms.
  • Experience supporting ESG or sustainability initiatives.
  • Previous experience in Integrated Management Systems and processes is beneficial.
  • Experience of stakeholder coordination and management.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills are beneficial.
  • Experience of using SAP is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Power BI is advantageous.
  • University degree is preferred but not essential.
