We are currently recruiting for experienced Occupational Health Nurses to join our ad-hoc team. These positions offer flexibility as ad-hoc roles, providing on-site support for a diverse range of clients. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of employees within various workplace settings. As part of the MCL Medics ad hoc team, your key responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering on-site, nurse led fitness for work medical assessments including FLT medicals, working at heights, Chester step assessments, musculoskeletal assessments and other bespoke medical assessments designed for clients within specific safety critical roles.
  • Delivering on-site Health Surveillance clinics undertaking the full range of Health surveillance screening including Audio, Spiro, Skin assessments, HAVS.
  • Delivering on-site vaccination clinics (influenza, Hepatitis B). For Hepatitis B clinics, phlebotomy will also be required.
  • Delivering on-site wellbeing / know-your-numbers clinics including baseline health screening tests (BP, height, weight, cholesterol) and also educating employees on all aspects of occupational health, health education and health promotion.
  • Recognising and escalating cases appropriately to our team of senior clinicians.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records which comply with internal business standards and clinical standards.
  • Maintaining effective communication with colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team, managers, clients and external agencies to ensure a seamless service delivery.
  • Ensuring the safe use and maintenance of equipment.

Essential Qualifications/skills:

  • Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered General Nurse and hold a valid NMC PIN.
  • Experience within an Occupational Health setting.

Desirable Qualifications/skills (depending on the work undertaken):

  • HAVS: a Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM) approved training course in hand-arm vibration syndrome, or equivalent level of competency desirable but not essential.
  • Audiology: Evidence of up-to-date training / competency required if you will be undertaking audiology.
  • Spirometry: Evidence of up-to-date training / competency required if you will be undertaking spirometry.
  • Chester Step Test experience – we can provide internal training if required.
  • Anaphylaxis and BLS training: evidence of up-to-date certification required if you will be undertaking vaccinations.

  • Previous experience in Occupational Health with a background covering various occupational health settings and environments.
  • A professional attitude with a strong desire to enhance and support health at work.
  • Strong verbal and written English Communications Skills.
