Role Summary
The Occupational Health Advisor role at MCL is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly organised individual to join our expanding team, supporting our clients to achieve their statutory duties to protect and promote the health, safety and welfare of people at work. We're looking for a reliable and motivated professional with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills who is committed to ongoing professional development, has the ability to analyse and interpret data and problemâsolving skills to meet the needs of the business and clients. The successful applicant will be a selfâstarter who takes initiative and is comfortable working in a fastâpaced, everâchanging environment. They will be comfortable troubleshooting and problemâsolving and have a passion for supporting the success of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Noise management of NEMS database and routine personal monitoring and area monitoring.
- COSHH custodian of database and engagement with work parties as required for guidance and advice.
- Manual Handling - ensuring thorough audit process that staff and contractors have appropriate Manual Handling management systems in place.
- Assist the Occupational Hygienist and relevant Terminal personnel in the review and update of Health Risk Assessments (HRAs) to identify health surveillance and health monitoring needs at Terminal.
- Deliver and maintain the health surveillance programme, as identified by the Terminal HRA, and health screening in accordance with client standards.
- Ensure compliance and understanding by conducting regular health related worksite audits.
- Act as a Focal Point for the Terminal appointed First Aiders and provide regular non certificated refresher firstâaid update training at site to keep skills up to date. Ensuring the site First Aid Needs Risk Assessment is current and up to date.
- Provide support to HSE team for biological monitoring at Terminal, e.g. Benzene.
- Work to strict protocols and procedures set by MCL Medics and in line with SEQOHS accreditation.
- Other occupational health focal point activities as required.
Qualifications
- RGN/RMN with prior Occupational Health Advisor experience
- Current NMC Registration
- Desirable: Occupational Health qualification; relevant experience considered
- Proactive, friendly, and professional individuals with workload management confidence
- Contribute towards safe working practices across the OH Delivery team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to contribute ideas and suggestions for improvements in order to achieve more effective working practices
- Good understanding of Microsoft packages, and comfortable in use of OH software
- Conducting occupational health case management
