About the Role
McKinty Associates are working with a small East Belfast-based Third Sector organisation who have a requirement for a Finance Officer to join their team. The Finance Officer will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective financial and administration service for the Association. The successful individual will support the organisation across a variety of areas, making this a varied and enjoyable role.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Financial
- Preparation of quarterly Management and Financial Accounts, including accruals, prepayments and journal entries
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end Financial Statements and providing information to the Association's External Auditors
- Assisting with annual Income and Expenditure Budgets and monitoring actual spend against budget
- Maintaining the Association's Fixed Asset Register
- Completing quarterly statutory returns to the DfC and other agencies
- Preparing financial reports for Board meetings
- Running monthly payroll, including processing associated payments to HMRC and NEST Pensions
- Managing the Purchase Ledger system, including processing invoices, preparing payments and resolving queries
- Recording and reconciling house occupancy lists and Housing Benefit payments, and liaising with NIHE/tenant representatives
- Undertaking general bookkeeping tasks, including monthly bank reconciliations and management of petty cash
- Administration
- Assisting with the management of contracts for the Association's IT, printing and telephone systems and liaising with service providers when necessary
- Arranging meetings of various Board and other committees, compiling meeting papers and taking minutes in the absence of the external minute taker
- Filing papers, documents and general correspondence, including responsibility for maintaining and updating the Association's filing system in accordance with GDPR
- Assisting Maintenance Officers, including updating the status of maintenance orders, maintaining statutory servicing records and collating regular reports
- Undertaking front-line/reception duties, including welcoming visitors to the office
- Checking and ordering stationery supplies and office equipment
- Undertaking general day-to-day activities to ensure the smooth running of the office
- Any other duties as may be reasonably required
Eligibility Criteria
- Strong academic record, including Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above
- Minimum 3 years' previous experience in a similar role
- Experience using Sage accounting software is desirable
- Excellent IT literacy, including advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Experience working on own initiative and as part of a small team
- High level of organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships and rapport
