Your Impact

You will contribute to press office and team operations, AI‑enabled ways of working, media training, analytics and team connectivity. You will play a leading role in bringing the latest tech & AI tools and solutions to the team. You will bring strong judgment, attention to detail, and a practice, solution‑oriented mindset – helping the team execute and continuously improve.

You will join McKinsey’s Media Relations and Strategic Communications teams within the firm’s Reach and Engagement function. These teams work internally and externally to protect and strengthen the firm’s reputation, support firm‑building priorities, and help ensure the right messages reach external, internal, and institutional audiences.

You will help deliver timely, high‑quality communications and operational support across media relations and strategic communications. You will be based in Europe on the Media Relations team with a dotted line to the Strategic Communications team. You will work closely with colleagues across both teams to support high‑priority communications, improve coordination, and help the team operate efficiently across markets, stakeholders, and channels.

You will leverage strong writing, organization, and stakeholder‑management skills to elevate the firm’s communications, showcase its knowledge and perspectives, and protect its reputation across channels, platforms, and audiences.

In terms of creating effective communications: you will support media hotline coverage, media monitoring, newsletters, and the triage of inbound media inquiries; draft or coordinate briefings, memos, Q&A, and background materials for live situations; and contribute to proactive media pitching, interview staffing, and spokesperson support. You will help ensure communications are clear, well‑structured, risk‑aware, and aligned with firm messaging and leadership priorities.

In terms of project management and execution: you will help implement AI tools and new workflows that improve efficiency, quality, and consistency across the team; you will coordinate knowledge management and team operations across tools such as SharePoint and Box; help plan connectivity meetings and track follow‑through on team actions; manage media training scheduling, tracking, follow‑up, and automation opportunities; and support metrics, analytics, and reporting across media relations and strategic communications activities.

Your Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in media relations, corporate communications, strategic communications, or related roles; professional services or agency experience is a plus
  • A strong command of technology and AI is a must
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and relevant collaboration and knowledge‑management tools, including SharePoint and Box
  • Understanding of media relations, strategic communications, and reputation‑sensitive communications
  • Comfortable working in quick, iterative ways and using AI and other technology tools to improve quality, consistency, and efficiency
  • Ability to work independently and entrepreneurially, manage multiple priorities, and see projects through from end to end
  • Strong organizational and project‑management skills, including logistics, tracking, follow‑up, and process improvement
  • Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable receiving and providing feedback across teams
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion, resilience, and the core values expected of firm colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills across formats, including briefings, memos, and Q&A
  • Proficiency and fluency level language skills in verbal and written English; additional languages are a plus
