Essential Requirements: Legal Experience / Compliance Experience in a Law Firm
Leading London law firm is looking for a Risk and Compliance, KYC and AML Officer, to oversee the management of risk on a day-to-day basis reporting into the Chief Financial and Operating Officer as part of the Business Management Team. You will be ensuring compliance across the firm with SRA regulations and statutory requirements e.g. on data protection, bribery and corruption, and conflict of interest, as well as compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure firm-wide compliance with SRA regulations and the SRA Handbook
- Identify and report material breaches to the SRA
- Develop and maintain AML policies and procedures
- Liaise with the SRA and other regulatory bodies as applicable
- Perform client due diligence and enhanced due diligence checks
- Implement and maintain compliance policies and procedures
- Develop and implement risk management and compliance strategies
- Conduct risk assessments and internal audits as required
- Manage the firm’s complaints process
- Monitor adherence to AML, legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements
- Create and maintain compliance documentation and reports
- Regularly review and update internal policies and procedures
- Provide training related matters
- Investigate potential compliance violations
- Advise management on risk mitigation strategies
It is essential that you have a solid background and experience in legal compliance and AML from another London law firm as well as having in-depth knowledge of SRA regulations and legal sector money laundering risks. You must also have excellent leadership and communication skills as you will be liaising with senior management on a daily basis.
