The highly competitive US generic pharmaceutical sector continues to challenge every element of the supply chain. In this constantly changing environment, patients can be served through multiple channels in new and different ways, whilst those that dispense prescriptions, the wholesale distributors that supply them and manufacturers all have to react and respond to how the sector is evolving, which is also heavily influenced by payers, regulatory bodies and federal and state law. To succeed in this environment requires organisations to adapt and change and, at ClarusONE, we play a key role in working alongside multiple stakeholders to deliver the most efficient supply chain model whilst generating value for our Members, their customers and patients through innovative sourcing solutions.

The ClarusONE proprietary sourcing platform is key to enabling innovation across the sourcing model. The purpose of this role is to ensure that the strategic product delivery team builds technology solutions that genuinely meet the needs of the differing user groups of this platform. Working alongside the product managers, this role is key to shaping the product direction by commissioning and managing dedicated user research which, via user journeys, delivers a clear set of design requirements. In addition, this role acts as the ‘voice of the user’, providing insights into user behaviours, pain points, and expectations, making sure that development decisions are grounded in evidence rather than assumptions.

Responsibilities:

  • Owns the quantitative research programmes used to understand user needs, behaviours, and pain points, utilising methods such as interviews, surveys, and observations to gather insights that guide product direction and ensure user-centred decision-making.
  • Responsible for generating the wireframes, user flows, and prototypes that translate the research findings into intuitive digital experiences. This means ensuring all product and/or feature designs follow usability principles, accessibility standards, and align with the overall product vision.
  • As part of the wider digital and data science roadmap, will lead the design of user experiences in the software that enable machine learning and AI powered features.
  • Will own the planning and execution of usability tests to retrospectively evaluate design effectiveness and identify areas for future improvement.
  • Will collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and UI designers to ensure that user experience requirements are clearly defined, technically feasible, and accurately implemented throughout the development process.
  • Owns the ongoing production of UX documentation, design specifications, journey maps, and research summaries. Alongside the Director, Strategic Product Delivery, will regularly communicate to a variety of stakeholders, promoting design rationale and advocating for user-centred practices across the organisation.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires 5 years+ experience in these areas:
  • Proven experience conducting user research using interviews, surveys, observational studies, and usability evaluations.
  • Strong ability to translate research insights into personas, journey maps, and actionable design recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows using tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Solid understanding of UX design principles, usability heuristics, and accessibility standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to run usability tests, analyse results, and iterate designs based on evidence.
  • Experience collaborating with product managers, developers, and UI designers in agile or cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting research findings, design rationale, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with data analytics (e.g., heatmaps, behavioural analytics, conversion metrics) to support UX decisions.
  • Familiarity with information architecture, content structure, and interaction patterns across digital platforms.
  • Familiar with the implementation of AI and machine learning applications within a software platform, including relevant efficacy testing, oversight and governance requirements.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives.
