ClarusONE Sourcing Services, LLP, provides strategic generic pharmaceutical services for both Walmart Stores, Inc. and McKesson Corporation. Its mission is to enable access to affordable medicines, which it has successfully been doing since its inception in 2016. ClarusONE is a joint venture between Walmart and McKesson, two of the top 10 biggest corporations in the USA, according to the Fortune 500 list. They have more than two decades of history working together to improve the quality and lower the cost of pharmaceutical care to patients.

The environment in which ClarusONE operates constantly requires the organisation to adapt and change, seeking greater efficiency in how it works through improved process, technology innovation and new ways of working. Delivering these changes with discipline and rigour will ensure that they land with maximum impact, delivering for our Members and for the patients that they serve. ClarusONE Sourcing Services is headquartered in London and prides itself on its can-do attitude that has ensured millions of Americans pay less when buying generic pharmaceuticals every day.

Job Purpose: The highly competitive US generic pharmaceutical sector continues to challenge every element of the supply chain. In this constantly changing environment, patients can be served through multiple channels in new & different ways, whilst those that dispense prescriptions, the wholesale distributors that supply them and manufacturers all have to react and respond to how the sector is evolving, which is also heavily influenced by payers, regulatory bodies and federal & state law. To succeed in this environment requires organisations to adapt and change and, at ClarusONE, we play a key role in working alongside multiple stakeholders to deliver the most efficient supply chain model whilst generating value for our Members, their customers and patients through innovative sourcing solutions.

The Director of Product underlines the importance of delivering product led technology change in the organisation with discipline and rigour, ensuring that it lands with maximum impact and delivers against ClarusONE’s purpose and strategic priorities. The role will work in partnership with stakeholders internal to ClarusONE and within the Members to develop and deliver the strategic roadmap for in-house developed software solutions, technology programs and their respective workstreams, ensuring that they meet the benefits identified and generate value.

This role provides a greater level of focus on how ClarusONE delivers change through product led technology, right first time, on time and within budgetary requirements. It will ensure that key priorities are resourced and delivered, working with the Leadership Team to overcome any hurdles in their way. The position requires strong inter-personal skills, commercial acumen, the ability to understand the bigger picture and relationship management skills, as well as problem-solving and the ability to identify opportunities with a focus on sourcing, value add services, supply chain and sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with key stakeholders, both internal to ClarusONE and within the Members, to translate the ClarusONE strategy into a product led strategy and roadmap for Technology, Data and Analytics.
  • Produce materials that are tailored to different stakeholder audiences, to engage them in the vision, ensure clarity regarding roles and responsibilities, phasing of delivery, timings and expected outcomes.
  • Ensure clarity and accountability for presentation to the ClarusONE leadership and where needed the ClarusONE Board that frames progress against goals and vision for the roadmap to deliver the evolution of ClarusONE technology and secure investment where required.
  • Develop and own the Product vision for ClarusONE proprietary sourcing software, setting out and communicating effectively the long term roadmap to bring the vision to fruition.
  • Ensure that Product development makes full and responsible use of emerging technologies and AI, and at every step the product attributes and developed functionality aligns with the needs of differing internal business teams and external stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Lead the development of targeted UX research programmes to shape a consistent understanding of how different personas use the software platform, and to in-turn use the output from this research to shape the long term design and development principles required to deliver a conformant, intuitive and efficient global sourcing platform.
  • As part of the Technology and Analytics leadership team, facilitate collaboration across Product, Engineering and Analytics teams to foster a high performing culture across these disciplines.
  • Partner closely with the Process Improvement team to quantify and address legacy process and ways of working, and to ensure all user groups are ready to engage with the development roadmap and adopt new product delivery within their own BAU ways of working.
  • Lead a multi-skilled team of product managers, designers, QA specialists and UX Specialists. Coach and mentor as appropriate to combine these disciplines into a cohesive high performing team.
  • Empower individuals to prioritise work requests effectively against the strategic product development roadmap, acting as a point of escalation as required.
  • Scope and manage a series of KPI trackers and reports, to measure product success, adoption, and impact, and quantify iterations to the ‘end to end’ product development roadmap and product lifecycle using insights created from these.
  • In addition, work closely with legal and compliance colleagues to ensure regulatory, quality, and compliance standards are met.
  • Partner with the Process improvement and Business Execution team to ensure business readiness for new developments and successful adoption of new features.

  • Broad knowledge of responsible use of data science and AI, and in particular the application within technology and software solutions.
  • Knowledge of the US generic pharmaceutical market is desirable, with a preference to having worked in the market in a product, technical or strategic role.
  • Previous experience of working in strategy or change roles would be preferable, a qualification would be preferable but not essential.
