Energy production business building a world-class, diversified portfolio of international assets in gas-to-power markets has created a new position for a Senior Legal Counsel. This position can be based remotely with occasional travel to London and abroad.
Responsibilities:
- Working alongside the in-house legal teams based in UK and Africa you will be involved in:
- Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing all commercial contracts.
- Assisting on M&A activity.
- Supporting the Governance and Compliance programmes.
- Supporting with Company Secretarial duties.
- Advising on disputes, data protection, and employment law issues.
We are looking for:
- Qualified UK or other common law jurisdiction lawyer with 6-10 years’ experience advising on corporate or commercial matters.
- In-house experience (possibly in an industrial, energy, oil & gas, manufacturing environment) would be a bonus.
- Experience operating with or in emerging markets, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa (both francophone and English speaking), would be a welcome advantage.
- Excellent people leadership skills, adept at fostering relationships and establishing rapport with colleagues at all levels, actively promoting a highly collaborative work environment.
- Strong intellect and commercially astute with excellent judgement and analytical skills.
- Comfortable with negotiating commercial contracts.
- Able to distil complex issues into actionable solutions.
- Possesses excellent communication skills; able to navigate high levels of detail but deliver clear, succinct messages both in writing and verbally.
- Pragmatic with a balanced approach to risk management.
- Culturally adaptable, resilient, and calm under pressure.
- Down-to-earth, enthusiastic, and with a good sense of humour.
