Salary: £28,295 - £42,440 per annum + overtime, travel time, and out of hours retainer fees. With a joining bonus of £1,000, you could earn up to £50,000 per annum (base salary plus overtime and bonuses). You will also be provided with a vehicle, uniform, test equipment, laptop, mobile phone, and other benefits.

MCS is looking to recruit a Fire service and maintenance engineer who wants to join a successful and motivated team. This role focuses on the delivery of PPM Servicing and includes repairing life safety systems and facilitating Health & Safety procedures within the contract. You will work in different environments every day and across various locations. We trust our engineers to be the face of our business and engage with our clients to ensure we deliver exceptional customer service excellence.

About us: MCS is a leading national supplier of fire safety, security, and electrical services for the Social Housing sector. The business has won several new contracts and is looking for experienced engineers to carry out installations, testing, inspection, and repairs as part of our existing skilled team. Progression, learning, and ensuring the safety of tenants are our primary concerns, so attention to detail, communication, and taking pride in your work are essential.

You will be expected to:

  • Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems (BS5839-1) and emergency lighting systems, Nurse Call, and Access Control in accordance with the relevant British Standards.
  • Correctly complete engineer service reports.
  • Report on and maintain emergency lighting systems and other associated equipment, such as fire extinguishers and AOVs.
  • Conduct regular van stock checks and liaise with the Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement Department to keep replenished and appropriately stocked.
  • Have a Health and Safety mindset, look at possible risks associated with the role, and report any issues promptly to support the ongoing safety of self and others.
  • Complete a first-time fix where possible.

The ideal candidate for a Fire Alarm Engineer at MCS will have:

  • A flexible approach to work with a minimum of 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri, with opportunities to earn significantly more through weekends and participate in an out of hours call-out rota.
  • A full UK Driving Licence.
  • Previous Fire Alarm Experience and knowledge of analogue addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
  • FIA training (or equivalent required) to BS5839-1 Fundamentals.
  • Understanding of BS5839, particularly parts one and six.
  • A good level of IT literacy.
  • An understanding of Health and Safety Regulations within the workplace.
