A Day in the Life and the Impact You'll Make As our Painter, you'll be responsible for preparing and painting metal and engineering components to a high standard, ensuring finished structures meet the quality and specification expected by Mc Gregor Structures and its customers.
You'll take ownership of the full painting process, from surface preparation and priming through to paint application and final inspection.
Your attention to detail will be key to protecting components against corrosion, achieving a high-quality finish and ensuring every project is delivered to the required standard.
As our Painter, your key responsibilities will be
- Preparing, degreasing and sanding metal surfaces, removing rust, scale and existing coatings.
- Applying primers and specialist protective coatings to ensure strong adhesion and corrosion protection.
- Operating conventional, airless and air-assisted spray equipment to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Accurately mixing paints, thinners and multi-component coatings to manufacturer specifications.
- Inspecting finished work, completing touch-ups and maintaining spray painting equipment.
- Following technical drawings, production schedules and all relevant health & safety and COSHH requirements.
As our Painter, you must have
- A minimum of 3 years' relevant painting experience within an industrial, engineering, manufacturing or similar environment.
- Experience with surface preparation, priming and industrial paint application.
- Experience operating spray painting equipment and mixing industrial coatings.
- The ability to read and follow technical drawings, specifications and job instructions.
- A valid CSCS card or willingness/ability to obtain one where required.
- A full UK driving licence – essential.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering a high-quality finish.
- A good understanding of health & safety, PPE and working with hazardous materials.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider production team.
