About the Role
The Strategy & Innovation function plays a central role in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction. It supports the evolution of corporate strategy, monitors emerging business and technology trends, oversees innovation initiatives, and leads key elements of corporate governance and policy development. The function also coordinates major internal governance forums and contributes to organisation‑wide decision‑making processes.
As AI Governance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the responsible and strategic adoption of Artificial Intelligence across the organisation. You’ll help to define AI strategy, champion AI literacy and enablement, and build and maintain a comprehensive AI governance framework. Your work will ensure alignment with evolving regulatory expectations, risk appetite, and overall organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the evolving AI landscape—particularly within financial services—and provide insights on risks, opportunities, and industry trends.
- Support the development and execution of a forward‑looking AI strategy aligned with organisational goals.
- Collaborate with business units to identify, assess, and prioritise AI use cases, including business case development and strategic alignment.
- Participate in internal AI governance forums, contributing to the development of policies, standards, and oversight mechanisms.
- Develop and deliver AI training, internal communications, and awareness materials to build AI literacy across the organisation.
- Provide subject matter expertise on AI risks and opportunities, supporting vendor assessments, risk reviews, and implementation workstreams.
- Track, measure, and report on AI adoption, business value, risk posture, and performance metrics.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the organisation’s AI governance framework, including policy development, risk frameworks, and control structures.
- Perform continuous assessments of the existing AI footprint to ensure adherence to policies, standards, and incident‑management processes.
- Provide regular reporting and insights to senior committees on AI risk posture and strategic progress.
- Coordinate with risk, compliance, technology, and other stakeholders to embed AI governance into the broader enterprise risk management framework.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in innovation, risk, or technology governance—preferably within financial services.
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks, including policies, risk assessments, and controls; specific experience in AI governance is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with AI risk domains (bias, fairness, transparency, accountability, privacy, model validation, human‑in‑the‑loop oversight).
- Working knowledge of AI regulatory frameworks such as the UK/EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, or ISO/IEC 23894.
- Solid understanding of AI model development, data dependencies, monitoring, and explainability requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience engaging stakeholders across diverse functions.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
- High ethical standards, sound judgement, and a proactive, self‑starting approach.
- Comfortable working with emerging technologies and evolving regulatory landscapes.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Knowledge of financial markets or FX is an advantage but not essential.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/economics, law, information technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional certifications in AI Governance, Responsible AI, Risk Management, or Technology Policy (e.g., NIST AI RMF, ISO AI standards) are highly desirable.
