Highly competitive and negotiableLondon, UKPermanentSenior Low Latency Rust Engineer – Electronic TradingLondon | Hybrid – max 3 days per week in officeWe are assisting with the hire of an experienced low-latency engineer to join a specialist team building frameworks, libraries and performance tooling used across a large global electronic trading environment.This is not a traditional BAU development role attached to one desk or application. The team works across multiple trading platforms, solving complex performance problems and helping define how latency-sensitive systems should be engineered.Approximately 90% of the role is hands-on coding, with a major focus on Rust alongside modern Java.What you’ll work onLow-latency Rust and Java frameworksEvent-sourced systems operating in the 10–100 microsecond rangeMarket-data replay, backtesting and simulation toolingHigh-performance market-data processingLinux, kernel and systems-level performance optimisationTCP/IP networking and kernel-bypass technologiesPerformance profiling, benchmarking and latency reductionFrameworks and tooling used across 100+ technology teamsWhat we’re looking forYou’ll ideally come from a background in algorithmic trading, electronic trading, market data or another genuinely latency-sensitive environment. Financial Services background is not crucial.Relevant experience could include:Rust, modern Java or C++Low-latency / high-throughput systemsAlgorithmic or electronic tradingMarket-data technologiesLinux internals and kernel behaviourTCP/IP networkingSolarflare / OpenOnload or similar kernel-bypass technologiesKDB or other time-series databasesPerformance tuning and optimisationYou do not need to match every technology listed.
