Job Description
Senior Audit Advisor
Location: Birmingham or London (2 days on site per week) | Contract: Permanent | Salary: £119k
One of our public sector clients is seeking a highly experienced Senior Audit Advisor to support its Enforcement Division in holding audit firms and individuals to account for serious or significant breaches of audit standards.
In this pivotal role, you will work closely with investigation case teams, providing expert internal advice on the interpretation and application of accounting and auditing standards. You will guide investigations to focus on the most critical breaches, assist in engaging and instructing external experts, and critically assess complex audit judgements and technical issues.
This is a unique opportunity to influence high-profile, sensitive regulatory investigations that are in the public interest and contribute to the improvement of audit quality in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on technical accounting and auditing matters across multiple cases
- Assess the reasonableness of audit judgements in complex investigations
- Support case teams with expert insight and liaison with external specialists
- Ensure clarity and quality in audit analysis and written reports
About You:
- Qualified Accountant
- Has worked at director level (acting as a Responsible Individual) or above in the audit profession
- Substantial audit experience, including in the audits of listed and other public interest entities.
- Strong technical auditing and accounting skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including drafting reports/memoranda on individual investigations to be used by internal case teams and external advisors
- Skilled at explaining complex accounting and auditing concepts in an easily comprehensible manner to a non-accounting audience
