An established UK building services and engineering contractor I'm working with are looking for a Mechanical and/or Electrical Estimator to join their team.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Estimator looking to progress or a Senior Estimator capable of managing tenders independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Complete detailed measurements and quantity take-offs.
- Prepare accurate, competitive estimates for mechanical or electrical packages.
- Price installation works, materials and associated requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Identify risks, scope gaps, exclusions and potential cost variations.
- Consider installation methods, site constraints and project phasing.
- Liaise with project teams, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
- Support tender reviews, handovers and pricing queries.
Requirements
- Experience in mechanical or electrical estimating within the building services or MEP sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems and installation methods.
- Ability to interpret drawings, complete take-offs and build up detailed costs.
- Experience pricing building services packages and associated installation works.
- Good commercial awareness, attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Understanding of site delivery, fit-outs or complex construction environments.
- Experience with live or phased projects, data centres or other mission-critical environments.
The Ideal Candidate needs to be a hands-on, technically strong individual who can take ownership of the estimating process and understands the practicalities of delivering building services works safely, efficiently and commercially on site.
