A global financial services organisation is building a flagship Generative AI engineering team, responsible for designing and securing large-scale AI products and platforms used across the business. This is a rare opportunity to join a cutting‑edge, product‑led GenAI team that operates independently from traditional corporate bureaucracy. The team is built in the style of a modern big‑tech engineering organisation, with a strong focus on autonomy, engineering quality, and real‑world impact.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Golang Security Engineer (SVP level) with a strong cyber security background and an offensive, hacker mindset. This role is fundamentally about breaking things to make them better:
- Hacking real GenAI products and platforms
- Finding weaknesses, exploiting them, and understanding true risk
- Designing and implementing practical, production‑ready security improvements
This is a hands‑on coding role for builders‑not theorists.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Actively attack and stress‑test GenAI applications and platforms to identify vulnerabilities
- Build and secure production‑grade GenAI systems, primarily using Golang
- Identify and mitigate LLM‑specific risks, including prompt injection, misuse, and emerging AI threat vectors
- Develop security tooling, automation, and guardrails that integrate directly into engineering workflows
- Partner closely with engineers to embed security without slowing delivery
- Lead by example through coding, pairing, and setting high engineering standards
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who has secured real‑world products and isn’t afraid to get deep into the code. You’ll likely have:
- Strong Golang engineering experience in production environments
- A background in cyber security, product security, or offensive security
- Hands‑on experience finding, exploiting, and fixing vulnerabilities
- A builder’s mindset – you code as confidently as you hack
- Experience working in modern, product‑driven engineering teams (e.g., big tech, high‑growth tech companies, or similar)
Nice to have (but not essential):
- Experience with GenAI / LLM‑based systems
- Cloud‑native and Kubernetes security exposure
- Security tooling, automation, or red team experience
- Banking or financial services experience is not required.
Seniority & Impact
This is a senior, SVP‑level role with real influence:
- You’ll help define security standards and best practices for GenAI across the organisation
- Act as a technical authority for secure AI engineering
- Opportunities to engage with senior leadership and influence strategy (if desired)
- No mandatory people management – leadership through expertise is key
- Remote‑first (UK‑based)
- Office attendance once a month
- Annual performance‑related bonus
- 27 days annual leave
