A leading client within the financial services space is seeking a solid and reliable Application Solutions Architect to join and help implement some key solutions across a range of technology.
The role:
- Define an architectural vision and solution architecture that aligns with business strategy, enterprise architecture principles, and technology platform choices.
- Articulate the solution intent and operating environment, identify primary systems/subsystems and their interfaces, and define non-functional requirements.
- Ensure solutions are fit for purpose by collaborating with stakeholders and vendors, while assessing the impact of strategic design decisions.
- Work closely with both business and technology teams to shape the solution intent and architectural vision.
- Rapidly develop high-level architecture, refining details as business requirements evolve; ensure designs are modular, flexible, and adaptable.
- Apply best practices, templates, and documentation standards to produce architectural designs.
- Partner with Product Managers/Owners to plan and prioritise technology-focused backlog items for the architecture runway.
- Provide clarity to development teams on architectural aspects, offering solution options to overcome impediments.
- Conduct design reviews to confirm all non-functional requirements are met (e.g., security, performance, scalability, usability, reliability).
- Operate as an individual contributor.
Required Skills
- 3 days onsite is essential.
- Strong domain knowledge in Corporate Payments (essential), plus Accounting Services, Liquidity Management, and Receivables.
- Expertise in API design, microservices, and integration platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in AI technologies and their practical application within financial services.
- Experience working on initiatives delivering regulatory-driven changes (e.g., PSD2, ISO 20022, AML/KYC, GDPR).
- Ability to drive shared service strategies and foster a performance culture.
- Commitment to continuous improvement of products, processes, and tools.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Solid understanding of SDLC methodologies (Waterfall and Agile).
- Strong business partner engagement and coordination skills.
- Capable of leading automation initiatives, root cause analysis, and development of shared/common solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, problem-solving, and innovative mindset.
- Ability to translate complex concepts into multiple architectural views for different audiences.
- Broad IT knowledge, including financial software, middleware, and databases.
- Skilled at interpreting business needs and applying innovative technology solutions.
- A solid background and experience in Banking/Financial Services technology.

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/related field or related work experience.
- TOGAF 9 Certified.
- Cloud Solutions Architect Certification (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- AI Certification (AI+ Architect, LSBA, ELVTR).
