Network Automation Developer

£550 per day | 12-month contract | Chester | Hybrid 3 days per week

We are looking for a Network Automation Developer to join a large enterprise engineering environment, supporting the development and maintenance of automation solutions that improve network efficiency, visibility and incident response.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded engineer with Python and networking experience who wants to develop their expertise within a structured automation team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Python-based network automation scripts.
  • Support automation of operational and network infrastructure tasks.
  • Work with REST APIs and JSON to integrate systems and exchange data.
  • Assist with monitoring, alerting and network observability solutions.
  • Troubleshoot automation and infrastructure issues.
  • Follow established engineering standards, designs and operational processes.
  • Work alongside senior automation engineers on defined development tasks and enhancements.
  • Support incident and problem management activities.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives involving CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Maintain code and documentation using version control tools such as Git.

Essential Experience

  • Strong experience in network operations, automation, scripting or infrastructure support.
  • Good working knowledge of Python, including writing and maintaining scripts.
  • Understanding of enterprise networking including routing, switching, wireless and basic SD-WAN.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON and Git.
  • Basic Linux knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, telemetry and observability concepts.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • A willingness to learn and develop further in network automation.

Experience with Django/Flask, Infrastructure as Code or CI/CD environments would be advantageous.
