We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to provide hands-on technical leadership within a high-performing, agile development team.
The Role
- Lead technical delivery across a portfolio of digital housing management services.
- Provide hands-on technical direction across tactical delivery and longer-term architecture.
- Design, assess and implement scalable, secure and sustainable technical solutions.
- Work closely with Product, Service Design, Operations and Architecture teams.
- Represent the development team at architecture and technical governance forums.
- Drive continuous improvement, DevSecOps adoption and technical debt reduction.
- Champion accessibility, security, performance, maintainability and quality.
- Support troubleshooting across development and production environments.
- Coach and mentor developers, helping build a strong engineering culture.
- Contribute to disaster recovery and service resilience activities, including occasional out-of-hours support.
Essential Experience
- Strong commercial experience with Java 11+, Spring Boot, Spring MVC and REST APIs.
- Experience with OpenShift, Docker, Jenkins and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript, Node, Vue, React, Next.js and TypeScript.
- Solid HTML/CSS skills with an understanding of accessibility.
- Proven experience technically leading cross-functional development teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, automated testing and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with service-based and event-driven architectures.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrable experience coaching and mentoring development teams.
Desirable
- Strong SQL and data-modelling experience.
- Experience with AWS, Aurora/PostgreSQL and Grafana.
- Experience delivering inclusive, human-centred digital services.
