Contract: 12-months with possible extensions

Join a cross-functional engineering environment where you'll help strengthen software development capability, improve delivery and reduce technical and operational risk. Work across multiple product and enablement teams, providing practical coaching, technical guidance and support to embed secure, resilient and maintainable engineering practices.

What You'll Do

  • Coach multiple agile teams to improve engineering capability, delivery effectiveness and technical decision-making.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt, security, resilience and knowledge-concentration risks.
  • Promote pragmatic engineering standards, automation and effective developer tooling.
  • Improve developer experience through self-service capabilities and platform adoption.
  • Support responsible adoption of AI-assisted software development, including coding assistants such as Claude.
  • Help teams use AI for coding, testing, code reviews, troubleshooting and documentation.
  • Facilitate workshops, communities of practice and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Support technical modernisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to engineering governance, skills development and technical capability planning.

What You'll Bring

  • Significant commercial experience in software engineering and technical leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native development, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, observability and secure software development.
  • Practical experience with AWS, GitLab or comparable platforms, APIs, containers and modern programming languages.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring teams with different levels of maturity.
  • Understanding of large language models and AI-assisted engineering.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills.

Desirable

  • Platform engineering, Kubernetes or internal developer platforms.
  • AI platforms, MLOps, prompt engineering or agentic workflows.
  • AI governance and responsible AI adoption.
  • Public-sector digital delivery or technology modernisation experience.
