About McGoff Group Projects: We are a busy and expanding property development group that sits within a wider trading group focused around construction, services and asset management. We are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to support the Finance function of our development arm. This is a newly created role, reporting directly to the Financial Controller, and offers an excellent opportunity to grow with a fast-paced business operating across a complex group structure.
The Role: You will play a key role in the day-to-day finance operations across multiple companies and development projects. This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility and gaining a strong understanding of how a business operates.
Key responsibilities include:
- Raising purchase orders
- Processing supplier invoices, ensuring they are correctly authorised, coded and allocated to the appropriate project and company
- Maintaining the purchase ledger
- Preparing and assisting with VAT and CIS returns
- Reconciling bank and credit card accounts
- Assisting with payroll reconciliation and processing
- Assisting the Financial Controller with development administration, including drawing down development funds and reconciling project accounts to budgets
- Liaising with utilities providers and other sundry suppliers
- Supporting finance processes across a growing group of interconnected businesses
About You: We are looking for someone with solid transactional finance experience and a proactive, adaptable approach. You will ideally have:
- Experience in purchase ledger and/or bookkeeping
- Exposure to VAT and CIS returns (desirable)
- Some payroll experience
- Confident using Microsoft with moderate Excel skills
- Experience using Xero or other cloud software (highly desirable)
- AAT level 3 a distinct advantage
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- Confidence to liaise with colleagues and associates at all levels, in particular business unit leaders and budget holders
- A willingness to learn the business and understand how different entities and projects interact
