This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in the manual and mechanical inspection of precision machined parts and components , who is confident working to tight tolerances and interpreting detailed engineering drawings. CMM inspection experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Candidates with experience operating or programming CMMs, particularly using Aberlink , would be of interest; however, the primary requirement is a strong conventional inspection background within precision engineering. Working in a modern, clean manufacturing environment, you will play a key role in ensuring precision components consistently meet customer specifications and exacting quality standards. The Role As a Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for the inspection of precision machined parts and components throughout the manufacturing process. Your responsibilities will include: Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspection of precision machined components Performing First Article Inspection (FAIR) where required Inspecting components to tight tolerances using conventional measuring equipment Using equipment including micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, height gauges, shadowgraphs and other precision measuring instruments Reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings, GD&T and customer specifications Producing accurate inspection reports and maintaining relevant quality documentation Identifying, recording and reporting non-conformances Supporting production teams to ensure quality standards are consistently achieved Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues Operating and/or programming CMM equipment where experience allows advantageous but not essential Skills & Experience To be successful in this role you should have: Previous experience as a Mechanical Inspector, Quality Inspector or Precision Inspector within a precision engineering or CNC machining environment Strong experience inspecting precision machined parts and components Confident use of conventional inspection equipment including micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision measuring instruments Ability to inspect components to tight tolerances Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing (GD&T) Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection Good communication skills and the ability to work independently Advantageous, but not essential: Experience operating CMM equipment CMM programming experience Aberlink CMM experience Experience with other CMM software packages such as PC-DMIS, Mitutoyo MCOSMOS, Zeiss Calypso or CMM Manager Candidates without CMM experience are encouraged to apply where they have a strong mechanical inspection background within precision engineering. Hours of Work 39 hours per week Monday to Thursday: 8:00am 5:00pm Friday: 8:00am 1:00pm Overtime paid at 1.5x after 39 hours Salary Up to £22.00 per hour , depending on experience. Interested?
