MSS Infrastructure Ltd are seeking an experienced
Structural Engineering Lead to lead a specialist structural engineering and testing team within a unique laboratory and research environment.
This role offers an alternative to traditional consultancy work, combining technical leadership, structural testing, client engagement and business development. You'll lead engineers and technicians, oversee testing programmes and help develop new opportunities across the sector.
We are looking for an
articulate and commercially minded engineer who can combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. The successful candidate will be comfortable representing the business externally, developing industry contacts and identifying new opportunities whilst leading a high-performing technical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians and laboratory staff.
- Oversee structural testing, assessment and consultancy projects.
- Provide technical leadership on complex engineering challenges.
- Manage laboratory facilities, resources and testing programmes.
- Develop relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.
- Support business development and identify new opportunities.
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals and assessments.
- Represent the business at meetings, industry events and conferences.
- Mentor and develop team members.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or working towards professional registration.
- Experience leading engineering teams and projects.
- Knowledge of British Standards, Eurocodes and UK construction methods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage clients, stakeholders and technical teams.
- Articulate, professional and comfortable building long-term client relationships.
- Able to represent the business at networking events, industry forums and client meetings.
- Commercial awareness with experience supporting business growth and developing opportunities.
