Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Mechanic role based in Johnstone. The Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing McGill’s fleet of vehicles, including buses and coaches. Daily tasks include performing routine maintenance, conducting inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations, and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults. The role also involves collaborating with team members to meet operational and service efficiency standards and completing necessary documentation for repairs and maintenance logs.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in vehicle maintenance and diagnostics, including the ability to inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with tools and equipment specific to commercial vehicle repair and servicing.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on resolving faults promptly and effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, maintaining high standards of service and operational reliability.
• Qualifications such as apprenticeship completion, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in vehicle maintenance, or a related field.
• Experience in the bus, coach, or commercial vehicle sector is advantageous.
• A valid UK driving licence; a PCV or HGV licence is desirable but not required.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety standards and continuous professional development.
