About the Role You will play a key role in leading design development from concept through to detailed design, ensuring technical excellence, efficient delivery, and alignment with project objectives. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will lead the delivery of innovative, practical, and buildable engineering solutions across some of London’s most challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptualisation and development of engineering designs, challenging briefs where necessary to create innovative and robust solutions.
- Manage the delivery of designs from feasibility through to detailed design information.
- Undertake detailed analysis and design of retaining structures, bearing structures, and framed structures.
- Produce and review structural details across a range of construction materials.
- Drive continuous improvement by developing more efficient design processes, workflows, and engineering tools.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to understand programme requirements, technical constraints, and project risks.
- Provide technical mentorship and support to engineers and technicians within the team.
- Ensure compliance with current design standards, legislation, and CDM requirements.

Skills & Experience
- Proven success in a similar role within a respected consultancy or contractor’s in-house design team.
- Strong design planning and programme management skills, including design programming and information release schedules (IRS).
- Practical understanding of structural behaviour and operational constraints during construction.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current CDM Regulations and relevant design codes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
- Highly organised with a structured approach to delivering outcomes and driving professional standards.
- Leadership capability, with experience managing project teams and translating technical expertise into practical action.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Ideally be of Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional institution or working towards it.
