Who Are We?
We are McGee, a specialist engineering contractor with a reputation for designing and delivering some of London’s most complex and innovative civil engineering projects, including The Londoner Hotel, Claridge’s Hotel basement, HS2, and Battersea Power Station. We provide a value-based integrated approach, focusing on quality and innovation in the delivery of major demolition, piling, civil engineering, and bespoke reinforced concrete sub and superstructure solutions.
We develop smart engineering solutions to complex problems and methods of working that enable fast delivery with safety and quality by design. We operate a risk-based approach in everything we do, identifying and mitigating risks through our planning. We complement this with our in-house supply chain, self-delivery philosophy, and support services. We have technical and operational specialists within each of our core disciplines, as well as an in-house construction design engineering team providing professional support in temporary works design, design management, digital modelling, and technical compliance.
Role Overview
The Bid Leader/Preconstruction Project Manager is accountable for managing the lifecycle of a single bid from the time the ITT lands through to submission to the client. They are responsible for leading the bid, collaborating with, supporting, and coordinating the wider preconstruction team to develop:
- The best method for the project
- The best technical solution aligned to the method
- The right programme to support the technical solution and method based on an understanding of risks, constraints, and opportunities (technical, programme, contract)
They will work closely with the wider team to ensure the estimating and commercial team have sufficient information to develop the right cost and contract to reflect the method and technical solution. Delivering against pre-agreed measurable deliverables, they will engage the wider preconstruction team and support functions to ensure that all outputs are delivered in time. In the event the bid is successful, they will manage the transition to the delivery team/stage.
