Reports to: Transport Manager / Batcher Man

Job Purpose: To safely operate a Class 2 Readymix concrete vehicle, ensuring timely delivery of ready-mixed concrete to customers and company sites, while providing excellent customer service and complying with all legal, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving & Delivery: Operate a Class 2 mixer truck to transport and deliver ready-mix concrete to sites. Carry out deliveries in line with daily schedules, ensuring punctuality and efficiency. Manoeuvre vehicles safely on construction sites and in confined areas.
  • Vehicle Operation & Maintenance: Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects immediately. Clean and wash out mixer drum and vehicle after deliveries. Ensure vehicle is fuelled, serviced, and roadworthy in line with operator licence requirements.
  • Concrete Handling: Discharge concrete to the required location safely and accurately. Follow customer/site instructions for unloading. Operate controls of the mixer truck, adjusting consistency (slump) when required within company guidelines.
  • Customer Service: Act as the face of the company, providing professional and courteous service. Communicate effectively with site personnel and office staff. Handle delivery paperwork, PODs, and ensure accurate records.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Work in line with company health & safety policies, traffic regulations, and industry standards. Wear and maintain correct PPE at all times. Follow site rules, including safe entry/exit procedures and vehicle movement protocols.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential: Valid UK Class 2 (Category C) HGV licence. Valid CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence). Digital Tachograph card. Good knowledge of road safety and highway regulations.
  • Desirable: Previous experience driving mixer trucks or delivering bulk materials. Knowledge of concrete properties and handling. Good customer service skills.
