About McGaffin Mechanical
McGaffin Mechanical helps homeowners across Ireland make the switch to warmer, greener homes. We deliver domestic energy upgrades on both sides of the border β including SEAI's Warmer Homes Scheme in the Republic of Ireland and NIHE Central Heating Scheme installations and NISEP (Toasty Homes) works in Northern Ireland β from insulation to heating and heat pump installations, improving comfort, cutting energy bills, and reducing carbon footprints for the people who need it most. Our team works closely with homeowners, contractors, and scheme administrators to deliver high-quality retrofits that make a real difference in people's daily lives.
The Role
We're looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support the coordination of our domestic retrofit projects. Working alongside our Project Managers, you'll help keep multiple home retrofit jobs moving smoothly from initial scheduling through to completion and sign-off, across both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Day to day, you'll:
- Support planning, scheduling, and milestone tracking across a live pipeline of domestic retrofit installations.
- Maintain accurate, scheme-compliant documentation throughout each job.
- Expedite materials and equipment, and liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and installers to keep deliveries on track.
- Assist with site inspections and help ensure works meet scheme quality, compliance, and safety standards.
- Coordinate logistics for tools, materials, and site resources across multiple homes.
- Update project reports, attend team meetings, and contribute ideas for improving how we deliver retrofit works.
- Help keep the customer experience front and centre β this work goes into people's homes.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in project coordination or project management, ideally within construction, retrofit, or a related trade.
- Background in expediting materials, equipment, or vendor deliverables.
- Understanding of inspection, quality control, and safety procedures in a construction or mechanical setting.
- Experience organizing logistics β deliveries, inventory, site resources β to keep projects on schedule.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple live sites at once.
- Confident written and verbal communicator, comfortable liaising with homeowners, contractors, and scheme bodies.
- Comfortable with everyday office and project tools (spreadsheets, scheduling software, PM platforms).
- A relevant qualification in construction management, mechanical systems, engineering, or similar is preferred.
- A genuine interest in energy efficiency, retrofit, or sustainable technology is a strong plus.
Join a team making a tangible difference to home energy efficiency and household comfort, one retrofit at a time β across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
