We are a small friendly company with a big reputation for looking after people with complex learning disabilities and we require a Support Worker who can demonstrate exceptional caring skills and qualities. The position is based in Paisley and is 28 hours per week ( 4 x 7 hour shifts on a rota basis including weekends ).
As a Support Worker for McFarlane Trust, you will be expected to create environments where the people we support can develop interests, skills, and relationships to enable them to live fulfilling lives in their local community. The job of a Support Worker is hard work but extremely rewarding.
Support Worker Responsibilities/day to day duties:
- Work with our people to create a friendly and happy environment
- Provide physical & emotional support
- Understand the individual needs and offer guidance
- Encourage and help develop skills
- Assist with medical & welfare needs
- Provide personal care if required
- Attend reviews to discuss health and well being
- Accompany individuals on outings
- Liaise with relatives and staff members
- Maintain a safe and clean place to live
Support Worker Requirements:
- Willing to undertake SVQ qualification and attend all training
- Able to show compassion, dignity and respect
- Understand and consider the needs of others
- Must be a good listener
- Be an excellent communicator - written and oral
- Experience of working with people with complex learning disabilities would be an advantage however not essential, as we offer excellent Induction and on-going training for all staff.
- Ideally SVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care
- A driving licence would also be desirable.
Working together with the people we support can make a real difference to their lives. Some of our services may require a sleep over and overnight holidays.
Successful Support Workers will benefit from the following;
- A pay rate of at least *£12.60 p/hr, increasing to at least £13.64 p/hr after 3 years\' service. *(starting rate is negotiable dependent on experience)
- 4 weeks annual leave entitlement increasing to 5 weeks after 10 yrs service.
- 12 days paid public holidays (based on a 38hr working week)
- 5% Employer Pension Contribution on your full basic salary.
- Life Assurance scheme and Employee Health & Wellbeing scheme
- Enhanced sick pay of 4 weeks full and 4 weeks half pay.
- Enhanced maternity pay of 12 weeks at half pay (after statutory 6 weeks at 90%).
