Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, the job holder will adopt development products and transition to production. Take ownership for product and production design improvements that will assist the company to grow in a profitable manner. This is a great role in a newly created department where the successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring junior design engineers and apprentices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adopt developed product and transition to production for introduction to the market within a fast-paced dynamic engineering environment.
  • Complete product design improvements from concept, design, support, build and installation.
  • Assist production with engineering support and guidance.
  • Co-ordinate with colleagues to support the sales team with technical specifications, site visits and technical advice throughout the process.
  • Meet regularly with Engineering Manager/Manufacturing Engineering Manager and Design team to ensure effective communication of information relative to potential business improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments relative to engineering design.
  • Follow company processes relating to equipment design.
  • Ensure drawings meet the company’s design specifications.
  • Produce drawings using 2D and 3D CAD system.
  • Source materials and components relative to any new product improvement designs, ensuring value for money.
  • Represent the company at relevant exhibitions and trade shows as required for the purpose of providing technical product expertise.

Essential Criteria:

  • Educated to degree in an Engineering discipline with 3 years + design experience.
  • 3 years experience with CAD design.
  • Awareness of relevant safety standards.
  • Design experience gained in a materials handling manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of hydraulic systems.
  • Solid Works or Pro/Engineer experience.
  • Research and Development experience.
