My client, a leading engineering company, due to continued growth and investment, is seeking a highly skilled CNC Engineer to join their team. The main responsibilities of this position are to program their CNC mills, set up their machines, and grow the department. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for both technical excellence specifically in the setup and programming of multi-axis lathes and mills and the strategic flow of the workshop. You will bridge the gap between production planning and floor execution, ensuring that our components meet the highest standards of quality while maintaining efficient throughput and driving lean initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strong level of setting of multi-axis CNC Mills and lathes.
- Write, edit, and optimise CNC programs both online and offline for new and existing projects.
- Oversee and perform routine machine and tool maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure equipment longevity.
- Conduct rigorous self-inspection of components to ensure tight tolerances and high-quality finishes.
- Ensure all components are deburred and finished to the required standards before moving to the next stage of production.
- Organise orders and streamline processes to ensure the most efficient output of parts.
- Actively support and implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous process improvements to reduce waste and increase output.
- Manage and mentor a small team of operators, providing technical guidance and ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed.
To be successful in this role:
- 5+ years experience as a CNC Machinist (milling and turning).
- Confident setting and operating multi-axis machines.
- Experience in 3D design programming.
- Experience in using FANUC controllers.
- Ability to self-inspect using standard measurement tools.
- Ideally have experience of Fusion 360.
