Eligibility to Work
Before we can employ you, we are required to verify your eligibility to work in the UK & Ireland. Acceptable documents to evidence your right to work can be found here. You’ll need to provide original documents such as a valid passport or a valid UK/Ireland visa (with a college letter listing term dates, where applicable). Only original documents will be accepted.

Interview Process
The interview is an absolutely vital part of our hiring process. It helps us get a proper picture of what kind of person you are, and whether you’d be a great fit at McDonald’s. The interview will normally involve a set of questions around values and attitudes and will allow the interviewee to show us why they’re the right person for the job. For instance, we might ask for an example of times you’ve worked as part of a team and how you made a difference to that team. We hire for qualities and potential, rather than qualifications.

Prospects and Workplace Culture
Our employees tend to stick around. There are opportunities to progress into roles with more responsibility. You may hear about the progression from crew members to restaurant managers or franchisees. McDonald’s is recognised as a leading employer with award-winning learning, nationally-recognised qualifications, comprehensive benefits and flexible working arrangements, and a clear career path. Friendly, welcoming, courteous and helpful behaviour will come naturally, and effective communication skills are essential. You’ll be working in a fast-moving, high-energy environment with a genuine smile and enthusiasm to connect with customers and make them feel valued.

Role Context and Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include maintaining outside landscaping, painting and varnishing, maintaining parking facilities and completion of non-electrical small equipment repairs. You will also be unloading deliveries of stock three days a week. Follow all workplace safety, security and food hygiene procedures. Treat all customers and colleagues with courtesy and respect, working as a supportive team member.

Benefits and Pay
Benefits package includes: Holiday pay, Service Awards, Meal allowance, Employee discounts from top high street and online brands and much more. If you work overnights between midnight and 5am, you’ll earn extra pay. Every team member, including hourly-paid workers, earns above the national minimum wage. We also offer a range of benefits including holiday and sick pay, and employee discounts at over 1,600 retailers.

Interview Scheduling
If you are unable to make any of the interview slots offered to you in the recruitment process, you can get back in touch with Olivia and she will help you rearrange a date suitable for you.

Sustainability
Does McDonald’s have sustainability plans or pledges? We are working hard to take the necessary steps towards a more sustainable business and future. In 2021, we launched our first net-zero restaurant.

Pay Schedule
Pay frequency varies by whether you work in a franchised or company-owned restaurant. Typically, hourly paid employees are paid every 2 or 4 weeks, and salaried employees are paid monthly.

Shifts and Uniform
Restaurant hours vary by location; over half of our restaurants are open 24 hours. Shifts are scheduled to suit you while respecting business needs. You’ll wear a supplied uniform.

Career Growth
McDonald’s promotes its employees. Talent is valued, with many leaders starting in restaurants. There are no limits to how far or how fast you can progress.
