Whether it\’s late at night or over the weekend, she\’s on hand to answer your questions, guide you through the application process, or help you find what you need. Olivia can answer common questions, guide candidates through application steps, arrange interviews and provide timely updates, all to help make the application process smoother and easier to navigate.
Eligibility & Documentation
Before we can employ you, we are required to verify your eligibility to work in the UK & Ireland. Acceptable documents to evidence your right to work can be found here. You\’ll need to provide original documents such as a valid passport or a valid UK/Ireland visa (with a college letter listing term dates, where applicable). Only original documents will be accepted.
Application & Interview Process
What type of questions do you ask at an interview? The interview is an absolutely vital part of our hiring process. Without it, we wouldn\’t get a proper picture of what kind of person you are, and whether you\’d be a great fit at McDonald’s. The interview will normally involve a set of questions around values and attitudes and will allow the interviewee to really show us why they\’re the right person for the job. For instance, we might ask for an example of times you\’ve worked as part of a team and how you made a difference to that team. In short, we look for people who have the right attitudes and behaviours to deliver a great customer and colleague experience; we hire for qualities and potential, rather than qualifications.
If you are unable to make any of the interview slots offered to you in the recruitment process, you can get back in touch with Olivia and she will help you rearrange to find a date suitable for you.
Roles & Responsibilities
You\’ll be working in our fast moving, high energy environment and we\’re looking for a genuine smile plus an ability to connect with customers and make them feel valued. Friendly, welcoming, courteous and helpful behaviour will come naturally to you and you\’ll work well as part of a team. Effective communication skills such as attentive listening, face-to-face verbal communication and eye contact are a must. The ability to maintain high energy levels whilst working both efficiently and productively is essential.

Working Hours, Uniform & Promotion
Our restaurant hours range from location to location, but over half of our restaurants are open 24 hours a day. We schedule most shifts to suit you, but also take working time legislation and our business needs into account. Just one of the benefits of working at McDonald’s is that you don\’t have to worry about what to wear to work; we will supply you with a uniform.
We highly value talent and always aim to encourage employees to remain within our business. To put it into perspective, half of our Executive Team started in restaurants. At McDonald\’s, there are no limits to how far or fast you can progress. 9 out of 10 of our restaurant managers, and 1 in 5 of our franchisees, started out as crew members behind the counter or in the kitchens.
Sustainability
At McDonald\’s, we are working hard to take the necessary steps towards a more sustainable business and future. In 2021, we launched our first (and certainly not the last) net-zero restaurant. Watch this video to find out more about our new, ground‑breaking store!
