Eligibility & Interview
What type of questions do you ask at an interview? The interview is an absolutely vital part of our hiring process. It helps us understand what kind of person you are and whether you’d be a great fit at McDonald’s. The interview will normally involve questions around values and attitudes and will allow you to show us why you’re the right person for the job, for example examples of times you’ve worked as part of a team and how you contributed. We look for people with the right attitudes and behaviours to deliver a great customer and colleague experience; we hire for qualities and potential, not just qualifications.
Prospects & Culture
What prospects do I have working at McDonald’s? Our employees tend to stay with us because it’s a fun, sociable and flexible place to work, with opportunities to progress into roles with more responsibility. For example, many restaurant managers and franchisees started as crew members. We are recognised as a leading employer with award-winning learning, nationally-recognised qualifications, comprehensive benefits and flexible working arrangements, and a clear career path.
Role & Responsibilities
As a Crew Member, you’ll contribute to providing the best customer experience. Responsibilities include preparing food, serving on the till or in dining areas, delivering high standards of quality, service and cleanliness, following training, guidelines and management direction, and adhering to workplace safety, security and food hygiene procedures. Treat customers and colleagues with courtesy and respect as part of a supportive team.

Shifts, Pay & Uniform
Evening shifts may extend past 1am. If you work overnights (midnight to 5am), you’ll earn extra pay. All team members, including hourly-paid workers, earn above the national minimum wage. We offer a range of benefits including holiday and sick pay, and employee discounts at over 1,600 retailers. If you work in a franchised restaurant, pay frequency may vary.
Interview Scheduling
If you cannot make any interview slots, you can contact Olivia to help rearrange a date suitable for you.
Sustainability
McDonald’s is working toward sustainability. In 2021, we launched our first net-zero restaurant. We invite you to learn more about our sustainability efforts and new stores.
Pay Frequency
This can vary by restaurant type and role. Typically, hourly paid employees are paid every 2 or 4 weeks; salaried employees are paid monthly.
Shifts & Attire
Restaurant hours vary by location; most shifts are scheduled to suit you while respecting business needs. You’ll wear a supplied uniform.
