Recruitment Assistant (Olivia)

Olivia is our friendly virtual assistant, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support you through the application process. She\’s on hand to answer your questions, guide you through the application steps, arrange interviews and provide timely updates, ensuring a smooth and accessible recruitment journey. Olivia does not have authority to make hiring decisions.

Eligibility to Work in the UK & Ireland

Before we can employ you, we are required to verify your eligibility to work in the UK & Ireland. Acceptable documents to evidence your right to work can be found here. You\’ll need to provide original documents such as a valid passport or a valid UK/Ireland visa (with a college letter listing term dates, where applicable). Only original documents will be accepted.

Interview

The interview is an absolutely vital part of our hiring process. Without it, we wouldn\’t get a proper picture of what kind of person you are, and whether you\’d be a great fit at McDonald’s. The interview will normally involve a set of questions around values and attitudes and will allow the interviewee to show us why they are the right person for the job. For instance, we might ask for an example of times you’ve worked as part of a team and how you made a difference to that team. We look for the right attitudes and behaviours to deliver a great customer and colleague experience; we hire for qualities and potential, rather than qualifications.

Career Path

Our employees tend to stick around. Partly because it’s a fun, sociable and flexible place to work, but also because there are opportunities to progress into roles with more responsibility. In fact, 9 out of 10 of our restaurant managers, and 1 in 5 of our franchisees, started out as crew members behind the counter or in the kitchens. We’ve also been recognised as a leading employer, offering award-winning learning, nationally recognised qualifications, comprehensive benefits and flexible working arrangements, as well as a well‑proved career path.

Core Values

McDonald’s UK is committed to our core values: Serve, Inclusion, Integrity, Community and Family. We live by our values every day and are committed to fostering a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace, providing quality jobs, and making opportunity open to all.

Job Responsibilities

As a Crew Member, you will:

  • Consistently deliver the highest standards of quality, service and cleanliness in the restaurant.
  • Provide friendly, fast and accurate service, completing tasks in line with training, company guidelines and management direction.
  • Follow all workplace safety, security and food hygiene procedures.
  • Treat all customers and colleagues with courtesy and respect, working as a supportive team member.

Qualities & Attitudes

We want candidates who have a can‑do attitude, confidence in themselves, and are team players. Friendly, welcoming, courteous and helpful behaviour comes naturally with effective communication skills – attentive listening, face‑to‑face verbal communication and eye contact are a must. The ability to maintain high energy levels whilst working efficiently and productively is essential.

  • Holiday pay
  • Service awards
  • Meal allowance
