As Shift Manager you will accomplish all shift work requirements by orienting, assisting and coaching employees. You will ensure all standards are met by following production, productivity, quality and customer service standards. As a shift manager you will be monitoring operations, reallocating resources and solving operational problems.

You will be working within a multi-million restaurant and managing a team of 60 or more employees. You will be part of the management team that will drive your restaurant forward by building sales, growing profitability and delivering an outstanding customer experience. This position is open to people whom have experience of managing and leading teams within the retail, hospitality, business or a customer focused environment. Additionally, this role is restaurant based and involves working changeable shift patterns including working weekends and bank holidays.

Position Attributes:

You will work a variety of day parts, including breakfast, evenings and overnights (if trading 24hrs) to become accustomed to shift work and experienced in all aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing large teams and/or experience in the food/catering industry.

The Trainee Shift Manager Programme will be set out as follows:

  • Month 1: Crew Member. This initial training involves learning the basics of the restaurant. Following this first month you should be fully trained within all aspects of front counter, dining area and kitchen.
  • Month 2: Crew Trainer. Your second month revolves around the role of a crew trainer. By now you should be fully trained in all aspects of the restaurant and feel confident enough to train new and existing staff the correct procedures within any given area. Training will be provided on how to best deliver said feedback in the most effective ways possible.
  • Months 3&4: Area Leader. This is the final step before promotion to shift manager. During these final two months of training you will begin by learning how to run the kitchen and counter areas of the restaurant. Running one area of the restaurant may involve managing up to 17 people at any given time. You will learn to assign and delegate roles and responsibilities to crew within your area and manage by following up on given tasks. This is the final step before promotion to shift manager and should ease you into managing a larger number of crew.

Pay rises to £13.75 upon successful completion of the Trainee Shift Manager Programme.
