DFDS UK & Ireland is looking for an HGV Driver / Yard Operative to join its transport and logistics operation in Inverness.
This position would suit an experienced driver who enjoys varied practical work, combining local collections and deliveries with yard and warehouse responsibilities.
The Role
- Complete local collections and deliveries safely and on time.
- Shunt, position and park trailers around the depot.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and inspections.
- Maintain vehicle and trailer cleanliness, including jet washing.
- Load and unload trailers, flatbeds and containers using a counterbalance forklift.
- Secure loads correctly and prepare vehicles for transport.
- Support warehouse operations and stock movements.
- Assist with inventory checks and general warehouse duties.
- Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and operational records.
- Keep the yard and warehouse clean, organised and safe.
- Follow transport regulations and workplace safety procedures.
What We Are Looking For
- Valid Category C or C+E HGV driving licence.
- Current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Current Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
- Previous experience in transport, yard, warehouse or logistics operations.
- Understanding of trailer movements and load securing.
- Knowledge of vehicle compliance and safe working practices.
- Understanding of tachograph regulations and drivers’ hours legislation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake physical work and support warehouse operations.
- Ability to work outdoors and manage varied practical duties.
- A Tug Licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
