McDonald’s has an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor, Employee Relations Strategy and Policies to join our London office. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing and refining our employee relations policy framework and strategies for International Corporate Offices and Restaurants.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing employee trust and psychological safety
- Assisting with the audit and development of leaves and absences policies
- Overseeing the strategy for performance improvement plans and employee separations
Your work will focus on preventative measures to foster an inclusive workplace by developing and implementing effective frameworks and policies. Additionally, you will:
- Measure the effectiveness of strategies and policies
- Develop guidelines and tools for global market stakeholders
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in employee relations, inclusion, and safety
This role reports to the Senior Manager, Global Employee Relations Strategy and Policies. 60% of our week is spent at our corporate office in East Finchley, London.
In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support development of comprehensive International Employee Relations policy framework and strategy
- Assist with development of concerns management strategy and processes, including escalation and follow up processes
- Assist with audit and development of leave and absence policies
- Assist in the review and development of performance improvement plans and employee separations framework and policy
- Partner with Supervisor of Employee Strategy and Policies (US), Restaurant Listening team, and other key teams to formulate employee relations strategies
- Partner with other internal stakeholders (e.g., Legal, Impact, Operations) to ensure alignment, assess enterprise needs, and identify priorities
- Identify, partner with, and manage third party vendors who can support strategy and policies
- Own critical administration tasks.
Research, Evaluation, & Reporting:
- Evaluate and create reports to measure the effectiveness of Employee Relations strategy and policies in markets/globally
- Research and stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and benchmarks in employee relations, inclusion, and safety
- Monitor and evaluate employee relations metrics and trends, analyse data, and develop insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement
- Understand and keep up to date with employment laws and trends that can affect employee relations
The ideal applicant will have the following experience:
- Track record operating in or consulting for large, global corporations in a highly matrixed, complex structure in one of the following fields: Human Resources, Culture & Organization, or Safety & Inclusion
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate into key take-aways.
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related.
Desirable experience:
- Hands on exposure to organizational culture, concerns management strategy, organizational effectiveness, and HR processes.
- Strong organizational skills and experience leading or supporting project work.
- Confident with analytical work, problem-solving, and data analysis.
- Strong ability to influence others without direct authority; able to build and drive a strong business case for people as a growth driver.
- Experience working for a franchised business, distributed operating model or networked business environment.
